2018 Week 47: Thanksgiving Week

Hunting season is underway. These two guys have been diligent and successful in their attempts to replenish their venison supply.

As weather and time permit, Michael gets out for a trike ride.

Wednesday Mother had a doctor's appointment in the afternoon so I traveled up to spend the day and go with her. The first important task on my list was to stop by the ARTcare studio to pick up some items I had ordered--cards, prints, and originals of Mother's 2018 collection.

The instructor showed us her most recent paintings.

We were delightfully surprised to learn that her pumpkin painting was chosen for the Grace Village Thanksgiving card. It is beautiful with a glossy finish.

I added a small decoration to her room, we visited Aunt Margaret, joined the Bingo game, and then it was time to visit the podiatrist. For now, they will just keep an eye on the lesions on her feet. It did not seem wise to do a biopsy as the healing would be slow and difficult due to poor circulation.

I enjoyed the beautiful sunset on the way home and arrived back in time for pie night, Diane's favorite. After a thanksgiving service at the church, the evening before Thanksgiving Day, there is a dessert and pie fellowship time.

Stephan delivered a turkey ice sculpture to some Thanksgiving celebration.

I also prepared a turkey for the holiday but an edible one. Michael has done most of the cooking lately, but this time I offered to prepare the whole meal. Thankfully I had all of Thursday to work on it as our family celebrated on Friday.

Food and fun flowed abundantly thanks to all the contributions.
We celebrated November birthdays as well. Zion's was that very day.
Diane told a joke: "Why was the broom late?" Stephan got it right away, being the punny guy that he is. What about you, do you know the answer?
Elijah likes to mimic his dad's halfhearted smile. Otherwise he has a difficult time keeping a straight face, as you will notice in the family pics below.

I think the last time the entire family was gathered in one place was Thanksgiving three years ago.
It was definitely time for another family picture.
We like to try three modes: normal, silly, and serious or old-fashioned. Great fun! Do you have a favorite?

Everyone wrote or drew thankful thoughts or words on their paper placemat. I treasure each one--humorous, serious, artistic--each unique and meaningful.

  1. Wow I LOVE your mom's new paintings! Such a talented (and silly - ha!) family. I do NOT know why the broom was late - unless it was because it got swept up in something & missed the time :)
